Yoruba traditional rulers, under the aegis of Yoruba Obas Conflicts
Resolution Committee, has appealed to all politicians in the country to
give room for free, fair and credible elections as the nation files out
to the polls starting next Saturday.
The traditional rulers gave the call in a communiqué issued after a meeting held at the palace of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, at Ugboland, Ondo State, on Saturday.
According to the document, “members of Yoruba Obas Conflicts Resolution Committee, under the chairmanship of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Frederick Obateru Akinruntan, CON, F.ICA, FNIM,Olugbo of Ugboland, held a crucial meeting at Ugbo, Ondo State on Saturday, March 21, 2015.
“After deliberations on South-West and national issues, the committee made the following resolutions; that all the stakeholders in the forthcoming elections in the country should ensure that the polls are peaceful, free, fair and credible; that parents and guardians should caution their children and wards against being used to either rig election or cause trouble before, during and after the exercise.”
The monarchs further appealed to religious leaders, security personnel and Nigerian citizens to ensure that the polls are peaceful, credible, free and fair.
