Soroniyen Xenophobia: Zuma makes telephone call to Jonathan

The South African President Jacob Zuma has talked with President Goodluck Jonathan over the xenophobic assaults on Nigerians living in South Africa.

Both Presidents reaffirmed the requirement for their nations to cooperate.

In an announcement issued on Thursday by the South African Presidency, President Zuma had a phone discussion with his Nigerian partner on the need not to permit the late assaults on some Nigerians and their organizations make any political emergency between the two nations.

The announcement said, "The two Presidents reaffirmed the warm and welcoming relations between South Africa and Nigeria and promised that the two nations will keep on cooperating for the benefit of their people groups and the mainland overall.

"President Jonathan communicated his backing for the endeavors of South Africa to capture the assaults on remote nationals and to guarantee the security and security of all residents, including outside nationals and those from the African mainland specifically, who endured the worst part of the assaults prior this month (April)."

The announcement included that Zuma would go to the initiation of the President-choose of Nigeria, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari, which is relied upon to hang on May 29.
