The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and
Industry says it is imperative that it lends its experience and
expertise to the field of specialised exhibition where it has discovered
that there is a wide gap waiting to be filled.
In choosing which of the sectors to
commence the series exhibition, the chamber said it considered the area
of activity that had recently “revolutionised” business transformation
and growth, improving the standard of living and communities through
innovations.
“We thus arrived at promotion of
Information and Communication Technology and telecommunication sectors,”
the LCCI stated in a statement.
The statement read, “The LCCI, by
providing this platform for players in the ICT and telecommunication
sectors, is opening new vista of opportunities, which can only be
created by a proactive and forward-looking organisation like the
chamber.
“ICTEL Expo 2015 will therefore mark the
beginning of LCCI’s new venture into the specialised exhibition sphere.
With its years of experience in organisation of trade promotion
activities, there is no doubt that it will be another success story for
ICTEL EXPO.”
The Vice President and Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, LCCI, Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, signed the statement,
It added that the ICTEL Expo 2015 was a
professional trade show that focused on ICT and telecommunications
industries, stating that the ICTEL Expo 2015 would take place in Lagos,
from April 15 to 18, 2015.
“The Expo gives a 360 degress view of the
ICT industry and gives top visibility to sweeping trends innovations as
well as providing an excellent networking opportunity for business
decision makers, innovation managers, enterprise solution providers,
startups, ICT academics, Original Equipment Manufacturers , investors,
venture capitalists and other players in the ICT and telecoms sectors
(indigenous and international).”
Olawale-Cole said in choosing the
sectors, the LCCI was quite aware of the revolutionary roles ICT and
telecommunications were playing in the advent of a new sphere of
business relationship and development.
“With the incursion of ICT and telecoms,
it will no longer be business as usual. It has dawned on business people
that you either embrace this technological evolution or ignore it at
your own peril,” he said.
“ICTEL Expo is designed as an opportunity
for professionals, top players, investors, students, regulatory
agencies and venture capitalists in the ICT industry to meet the larger
business community and other end users to showcase the inherent value of
embracing new technologies in ICT and telecoms.”
He added, “With the top quality of
players and stakeholders in the ICT and telecoms sectors present here
today, I am confident that the LCCI has struck another positive chord
within the business community.”
Meanwhile, the President, LCCI, Alhaji
Remi Bello, has said that at the inauguration of the present Trade
Promotion Board in February 2014, he charged the board to expand its
portfolio and come up with a new product to reinforce and intensify LCCI
trade promotion activities.
“I am happy that the board took this
challenge seriously and has unveiled a top-notch business event tagged:
‘2015 ICTEL Expo,” he said.
