The Cross River State Deputy Governor,
Mr. Efiok Cobham, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial
candidate, Mr. Gershom Bassey, on Saturday, lost their polling units to
the opposition Labour Party.
The PDP candidate is in a tight race with
his LP counterpart, Mr. Bassey Otu, who currently represents the zone
at the National Assembly.
Figures from the Cobham’s polling unit in
Creek town, in the Odukpani Local Government Area, indicated that the
LP senatorial candidate coasted home with 86 votes while the PDP
candidate secured 79 votes.
Also at polling unit 9, Ward 9 where the
PDP senatorial candidate for the southern senatorial district registered
and voted, his LP counterpart got 139 while the PDP followed with 104
votes.
