The Independent National Electoral
Commission held election on Sunday in 85 polling units in five of the 20
local government areas of Lagos State where the poll was declared
inconclusive on Saturday.
There are 8,462 polling units in the state.
The election was declared inconclusive in
the affected local government areas due to logistic hitches, such as
late arrival of electoral materials and failure of smart card readers to
accredit voters.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in
Lagos State, Mr. Akin Orebiyi, on Friday night, listed the affected
local governments as Alimosho, Eti-Osa, Kosofe, Oshodi and Somolu.
He said accreditation would start at 10
am and end at 2 pm, while voting would start at 2.30 pm and end when the
last accredited person on the queue must have cast his ballot.
A document obtained by our correspondents
on Sunday revealed that voting would take place in 90 polling units
across the five local government areas.
In Alimosho Local Government, 21 polling
units were affected in the following wards: Shasha Akowonjo, two polling
units; Egbeda/Alimosho, four polling units; Olofin, one; Kando-Edan,
five; Ipaja North, two; Ipaja South, four; Ayobo/Ijan Village, one; and
Abule Egba/Miran/Alagbado, one.
Five polling units were affected at
Ajah/Sangotedo Ward in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, while 57 were
affected at Oworonshoki Ward in Kosofe Local Government Area.
At Orile-Oshodi Ward in Oshodi-Isolo
Local Government Area, five polling units were affected and two at
