The candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party for Osun East Senatorial District, Mr. Francis Fadahunsi, has
rejected the results of the election held in the area on Saturday.
In a statement made available to our
correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday, the PDP candidate called on members
of the party and his supporters to remain calm while assuring them that
he would seek legal means to right the alleged wrong done to him.
He assured the people of the state that
the result of the election would not stop his scholarship offer and
other empowerment projects.
The Independent National Electoral
Commission had on Monday declared the candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, Senator Babajide Omoworare, winner of the election with
101,352 votes while Fadahunsi came second with 99,166 votes in the
keenly contested election.
The announcement of the result caused tension to rise in Ilesa and other communities around the area.
Fadahunsi said, “Those responsible for the sorrowful mood in Ife/Ijesha Senatorial District will not have the last laugh.
“I am calling on my supporters to remain
calm. We will use every legal and peaceful means to contest the results
and achieve our ambition of making life better for the Ife and Ijesha
people.
“I am calling on all members and
supporters of the party to go out en mass and vote for the PDP
candidates in the April 11 state House of Assembly election.”
